Ben A. Goodwin

Body

A celebration of life for Ben A. Goodwin, 83, of Foules, LA was held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 2PM with Bro. Jerry Sharp and Bro. Kevin Skipper officiating. Interment followed at Highland Park in Sicily Island, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Ben was born on Thursday, June 20, 1940, in Saint Joseph, LA to Henry Denton Goodwin and Dora Rouzee Goodwin and passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, and gardening and everything had to be perfect. Ben spent his life working and taking care of everyone, especially his family. Not only did he retire from farming, he continued working and retired a second time from the Catahoula Sheriff's Department. Ben put the true meaning to Matthew 6:3-4, and it reads “(3)But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, (4) so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”. Ben was definitely rewarded and loved by all. He lived a faithful life to the Lord, his wife, family, friends, and everyone that knew him. Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will live on in our hearts until we see him again.

He is reunited with his parents; son, Jeff Goodwin; son-in-law, Sim 'Jr.' Callon; great-grandson, Zaiden Goodwin; brothers, Henry Goodwin, HD Goodwin, Pete Goodwin, and Ray Goodwin; and sister, Reba Roberts, Viola McLendon, Bernice Grosch, Faye Mize, Betty Jo Bingham, and Darlene Adams.

Those left behind to cherish Ben's memories are the love of his life of 64 years, Shirley Goodwin of Foules, LA; daughters, Lori Callon of Natchez, MS and Angie Goodwin of Foules, LA; grandchildren, Cortney Goodwin, Jill Robinson and her husband Ray, Caleb Goodwin, Andy Davis and his wife Kristin, Loren Vines and her husband James, Sarah Snyder, and Shelby Case and his wife Caroline; great-grandchildren, Alex, Micah, Ben Kennedy, Finn, Kaylie, Pyper, Collin, Aleigh, Coby, Jacob, Lily, Molly, Brody, and Henry; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
