I’m sure most people reading this watched the presidential debate a couple of weeks ago. The past and the present on the big stage answering the hard questions. The border has always been a big topic when it comes to politics. It’s also a big topic in the advocacy community due to the well known fact that fentanyl is trafficked through Mexico into the USA. Due to the high fatality rate of the opioid epidemic, American citizens want answers. Both of the political candidates, when asked about drugs entering our country, had different opinions on the border. Trump would like to shut it down and provide more border patrol while Biden said that we needed fentanyl scanning machines. I have been in this game a long time and I had never heard of fentanyl scanning machines, so I had to do my homework to see what Biden was referring to.

Farmer withdrew previous not guilty plea and sentenced to four years hard labor

David Farmer was sentenced in Seventh Judicial District Court by Judge John Reeves last month. Farmer faced charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon; possession of meth and drug paraphernalia; illegal possession of weapons and CDS; and distribution/ possession with intent to distribute marijuana; sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without a prescription.

Womack gets Senate Bill 44 passed, Protecting small local pharmacies

Senator Glen Womack was one of the fifty- six sponsors for Louisiana (LA) Senate Bill 444 passed and signed by Governor Landry on June 19, 2024. The law which becomes effective January 1, 2025, amends the existing Louisiana law to prohibit pharmacy benefit managers or their agents from reimbursing pharmacies or pharmacists in the state an amount less than the acquisition cost for a covered drug, device, or service.
